TECHNOSOMATIC ARTSPLOITATION – End of summer party

The summer of 2017 was very special. I lost ten kilos, worked out and swam in the sea several times a week, and hung out with a very nice group of people. We had so much fun and it was so special that we decided to make a big party at the end of the summer. 26 august. I took control and organised everything with a lot of help from my friends. Once again it was at 1857 and it was not a regular party, but like a little festival. The theme was physical strength and the central idea was the combination of techno and gymnastics on the pommel horse. This idea actualy originates from Rune Van Deurs, ten years ago at Moloch. It has stayed with me ever since. Imagine gymnasts moving to techno with strobe lights. Boom, boom, boom!

Rune got in touch with Christian Tverås at Njaard, He liked the idea and made the nessesary arrangements for us to borrow equipment and connected us to two of norways finest gymnasts: Odin Kalvø og Nikolai Rønbeck. It was so great meeting these energetic guys. They wanted to participate just for the fun of it. Such luck!

1857 was coincidentally packed with wooden pallets that were perfect for making hangout areas with. We made two “hills” of pallets and covered them with some cheap textile. We also used the pallets to build a stage. We spendt a whole day setting it up. The next day we had to do all the rest. It was a race against time! We worked so hard and I was very nervous that we weren´t gonna make it. We had all kinds of problems. When the party started we were still not finished lighting the place, we had a power failure and the urinal was still not built. The line leading to the one toilet was getting longer and longer. Only one speaker was working and I almost started crying. Some people started to complain. But Christian Bull came up with a great design for a urinal. We covered a bathing tub with black garbage bags, made a couple of holes in them, clogged the drain and voila! So minimal. So perfect. Suddenly all the problems were fixed. I was euforic! The place was well lit with strobes, a light organ and four video projectors. I made a live video show on two of the projectors. The othe two were used by Kristian Castro who made an awesome wideo wall using a feedback loop. There were two hundred people is the room. Most of them dancing. But when you looked at the video, it seemed like thousands!

FastForwardEatsTheTape set the mood with his hard electronica. It felt right together with the huge concrete walls. Then Hai delivered a mindblowing performance that really got everyone convinced. You can see some of it in the start of the video. Then Roland Lifjell started to play and the gymnasts started swinging about on the pommel horse. People went nuts! I was so happy. Jokke Houmb, the other announced DJ, became ill and couldn´t make it. So Roland just kept on playing until about two. Then, all of a sudden, the techno nuns entered the building. I am talking about Dirty Nun Techno Crew. This was a incredible suprise. They even had on their nun costumes. No singing or saxofone this time, just pure techno straight from the synthesisers. I had access to the videofiles I used at their concert, so the room was full of crosses and images of teenagers shaking on the church floor, full of the power of the holy ghost.

There are so many stories to be told about this experience. It was one of the best parties I have ever experienced. I wish I had more picture, but I completely forgot to document it. IF ANYONE HAS ANY PHOTOS, PLEASE SHARE THEM WITH ME!
